Jaira

  • Year of foundation :  1973
  • Number of members :  103
  • Music bands :  2
  • Headquarters :  Lugar Alto street. Own place.
  • Pennant :  Waning moon with crossing palm trees over dunes. Inside the waning moon the word "Jaira".
  • Origin :  Place located south of the county, next to Santomera road. Jaira is an arabian feminine name; its meaning is a synonym of luck and good omen. In Murcia and Almería, after some fights between Arabs and Berbers, a slave called Jairan got the power and established an independent "Taifa" kingdom.
  • Singularities :  It was the first Kabila to parade for the arabian side. In 1995 it paraded outside our frontiers, thanks to an invitation from the Murcia Cultural House in Villeurbane, in the "Brotherhood of the Cultures" party. Three of the four original founders still remain with the Kabila, the fourth one has already departed. This Kabila is composed by family units.

Muzalé

  • Year of foundation :  1974
  • Number of members :  70
  • Music bands :  2
  • Headquarters :  San José street. Place rented as usual premises.
  • Pennant :  A camel in a blue background in one side, and a star over a red moon in the another side with the word "Muzalé".
  • Origin :  Place located west of the "Huerta", separated from the "El Jarea" by the "Rambla de la Parra". It's a word whose origin is "Muza the Moor", name that Christians and Muladies gave to the leader of the Arab invasion Musa Ben Nusayr. In the history of the Arab domination we can find him in the eighth century with the name Muza Al, twenty-fifth Caliph, fourth of the Abbas's dynasty.
  • Singularities :  It's the group that has given more Queens and Ladys to the "fiesta" since 1986, when these ranks were established, with a total of five Queens.

Omeyas de Mahoya

  • Year of foundation :  1974
  • Number of members :  17
  • Music bands :  1
  • Headquarters :  Lope de Vega street. Usual rented premises.
  • Pennant :  Two interlaced octagons, gold and silver, the scimitar as a sign of the strength oh the arabian side and over all that the Cross. Also a waning moon surrounded by the words "Omeyas de Mahoya".
  • Origin :  They were the Caliph's dynasty that ruled the Islam from 661 to 750 and in the Muslim Hispania from 929 to 1031 as a caliphate independent from Damask. After the fall of the Omeya caliphate in Córdoba, the Muslim Hispania broke off into the small "Taifa" kingdoms. Mahoya is located in the Abanilla's "Huerta", at the beginning of the Pinoso road, the old path to the Aragon kingdom.
  • Singularities :  It's composed exclusively by men. Each one of them get the name of a caliphate honoring a place in Abanilla. It's the only Kabila that, from its early days, parade with very long muskets.

Al'Jarea de Al Margen

  • Year of foundation :  1979
  • Number of members :  86
  • Music bands :  2
  • Headquarters :  Menéndez Pelayo street. Usual rented premises.
  • Pennant :  It's got arabian elements: a waning moon, the sun and the palm trees that fill the landscape of "El Margen", in the middle of the "Huerta de Mahoya".
  • Origin :  The name Al'Jarea comes from a historic reason from the moorish town of Mahoya, whose arabian fortress had that name. Later on they added the name Al'Margen for a place nearby south of Al'Jarea.
  • Singularities :  This Kabila is composed mostly by married couples, that's why it has the biggest children's group, about 40 of them. At the beginning it was known as "the Kabila from Mahoya", because all its members were from Mahoya. Nowadays it still has most of that members, but it also has people "from the town" as they call the people from Abanilla.

Al'Bayada

  • Year of foundation :  1979
  • Number of members :  29
  • Music bands :  1
  • Headquarters :  Albayada street. The place is a cave that they bought in 1997.
  • Pennant :  Crossing scimitar and blunder buss. The muzzle facing down and the blade of the scimitar facing up. The main colors are blue, white and gold.
  • Origin :  This is the name that the arabs gave to Abanilla when they were here. We know very few facts about that time, but we have some Muslim remains over older Roman places, the citadel in "Lugar Alto" and the fortress in "Santa Ana". We also know that they improved the irrigation system through all the land.
